WE NEED MORE HOMES NOT MORE DISPLACEMENT

CALL YOUR CITY COUNCILOR TODAY!

On Monday June 20th, there will be two issues brought up in the Springfield City Council to reduce the number of foreclosures and evictions in Springfield.

First, an ordinance that would increase the burdens to foreclose upon people will be directed to committee will be introduced; and then a resolution calling for a voluntary moratorium on foreclosures and no-fault evictions by banks. Both of these, due to the immediacy of the crisis in Springfield, will hopefully be introduced through suspended rules in the meeting.

Please call your Springfield City Councilors and ask:

“We support the City of Springfield trying to reduce the highest rate of foreclosures and displaced families in the state. Please vote in favor of the ordinance and resolution in the next City Council meeting”.

You can find your councilors contact info at: http://www.springfieldcityhall.com/COS/council.0.html

AND Please come to City Council at 7pm TONIGHT to show your support for these actions!

TUESDAY JUNE 21st, 2011 – 3PM @ Basketball Hall of Fame

Governor Patrick will host a forum for “local community organizations and officials to discuss what the next step will be in getting victims and business owners back on their feet.” No One Leaves/Nadie Se Mude is calling for an immediate moratorium on additional displacement caused by foreclosures and no-fault evictions and on banks to open up vacant bank-owned homes as affordable rental units for displaced tornado victims!
