Sisters and Brothers,
Over the last year Springfield No One Leaves/Nadie Se Mude and the Bank Tenants Association has mobilized direct action against the bank at houses and banks, in the streets and on the sidewalks. We’ve outreached to hundreds of families facing displacement by the banks, packed the court rooms when necessary, and taken to the streets of Boston with thousands of other families fighting the banks.
the very start we’ve been demanding an end to ALL unnecessary no-fault evictions after foreclosure and principal reduction in loan modifications. And over the last 5 years, the powerful and brave stories of residents organizing to fight back against banks have made Principal Reduction & No-Fault Evictions a critical and central part of the national discussion about our economic crisis.
All across the country residents facing eviction & foreclosure are rising up to fight back! But we’re not alone, as bank tenants organize resistance to Wall Street so too are students and parents, the unemployed and the unionized, the healthcare workers and even some of our sisters and brothers donning police and fire uniforms. Everywhere, resistance to policies that put profit before people is being organized!
Over the last number of months the entire system that has allowed for the Wall Street banks to profit at the expense of our communities while giving out subprime & predatory mortgages and creating a massive housing bubble that they knew would burst has been put in the spotlight.Â
Right now is the time take back our cities and our country and demand an end to senseless practices that destroy our communities.Â
THE TIME IS NOW. THE PLACE IS SPRINGFIELD. WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE TODAY!Â
