DeCaro Family Foreclosure Auction Protest
Thursday July 14th 2011 @ 12:30 PM
152 Lucerne Rd, Springfield, Massachusetts (MAP)

At our Bank Tenant Association meeting tonight the DeCaro family gave stirring testimony of their ongoing battle with Bank of America to stop the foreclosure of their home at 152 Lucerne Avenue. The DeCaro family fell behind on their mortgage payments in 2009 when Mr. Decaro, a marine veteran, lost hours at his job at ConAm as a Driver/Receiver and Ms. Decaro lost additional income. In September 2009 they went to Bank of America to ask for a modification. After 5 months, they were informed over the phone in February 2010 that they qualified for a trial modification. They began making trial payments in March 2010 and have continued making those payments through the current day. Yet, now Bank of America is planning to foreclose on their home on Thursday July 14th, 2011 at 1PM. We will protest this foreclosure auction!

We will be protesting to make clear to anybody planning to purchase the home with the intention to evict may as well go home. Don’t Buy to Evict!

We will also be protesting to make clear that foreclosures and evictions that lead to vacant homes are wrong throughout Springfield! Especially now, in the wake of the June 1st Tornado we demand that banks implement a moratorium on all foreclosures and no-fault evictions in Springfield!

Rather than foreclosing, banks should give real modifications that include principal reduction!
